Antique Waterbury 8-Day Mantel Clock Movement w/ Key, Pendulum, Hands - Working: Up for auction is an 8-Day, spring driven, antique mechanical clock movement made by the familiar Waterbury Clock Co. of Waterbury, Connecticut. This movement is in working condition as I have had it mounted inside of an old clock case (for proper balance) over the past couple of days now. The heavy brass movement is a time and strike movement - striking once on the 1/2 hour and again on the hour with the corresponding number of hours - and the solid brass hammer / striking mechanism is also in working order. Although there is not a gong coil included in this auction, there is the original heavy lead pendulum bob, very nice antique hands and the antique brass key which is also marked WATERBURY CLOCK CO. The movement appears to be completely original, showing no signs of any repairs, additions or alterations. It also appears that it has not been cleaned or oiled in quite some time. Though not full of caked on oil, dirt or debris, and not heavily tarnished, the movement certainly could use a complete and thorough cleaning which would undoubtedly improve the overall appearance as well as prolong the operations of this fantastic antique movement.
