This is a nice vintage 6-blade oscillating brass blade fan made Western Electric . It is model 6344 and has a brass tag indicating that it has an "alternating current fan motor". It appears to be in very good to excellent original condition for its age. It appears to work good - see the second photo of it running. Has 3 speeds with 3 being high. It oscillates and I think you can readjust the mechanism and change the amount of rotation. It stands about 17 inches high and the fan cage is about 13 inches in diameter. I have wiped it clean some and took the time to carefully polish the very nice blades. I also replaced the green felt which should be good for another 30 to 40 years or more. I blew out the bottom switch mechanism with air and cleaned the contact points on the switch. I also removed the small grease reservoirs that lubricate the motor, cleaned them, and put in a supply of new grease. I would recommend replacing the end plug that goes into the wall. T is some old tape on the wiring harness that is not hurting anything and a little bit of fraying on the covering for the wires near the base (see last photo) - this could be touched up a little - but the wiring overall seems to be OK and certainly the fan operates just fine. T is a wing nut that allows adjustment of the angle of the fan. It could use a better cleaning and I think the use of a little automobile polish would make it really shine - still has gold pinstriping. Please use the photographs to judge the condition - due to the age, I am not allowing a return. I don't think you will be disappointed in this very heavy quality-made old fan. It would make a great decorating piece in your study, library or living room. A high quality solid american made fan to go with your antiques. When Architectural Digest does that interior decorating thing on your home you will want this one in the photo!! I am guessing a date of about 1920 to 1930, but could even date to the 1910s I suppose. Email any questions. Shipping will be by USPS parcel post. Double boxed and wrapped with alot of foam wrap. NO CHARGE FOR THE BOXING OR MATERIALS OR HANDLING! Heavy at 25 lbs. Will ship internationally (Paypal only on international sales). Thanks! Also running a nice old floating arm drafting table lamp --- Decided to add a better photo of the back to show that t are some places, particularly on the back of the motor, that have some paint missing. Thanks!
