Fabulous Western Antique Button Bag
Wonderful piece of Western Americana history. This came from Laramie, Wyoming. This is a very old piece of leather that was hand tanned (in western lingo braintanned) hide, it is very spongy and soft not the thick tanned leather you get from chemical tans. This has old silk faded red ribbon (the flash makes it look bright red which it is not) on the bottom corners and as a drawstring on the top. It was double stitched around the edge, probably with an old singer sewing machine as the stitching is very tiny and close together using red thread.

The writing on the top is green in color and I believe it was a wet ink, like from a pen dipped in ink as it bled a little and made the letters wide. It may have originally been a different colored ink and has faded over time. A darling saying: I Find All Missing Buttons Size of this cute leather pouch is 7 1/4" x 5 1/4". It is not lined. I would say this is from the early 1900's. Wonderful piece of western memorabillia, perfect for that log cabin or ranch house theme or look. Perfect for the cowboy or cowgirl in your life. This is a one of kind piece. It would make a wonderful gift for that sewing collector or collection.
