Up for auction is a Willcox & Gibbs hand crank sewing machine. It has a serial number of A477542. According to my research this was manufactured in the 1896 to 1898 era.The hand crank turns smoothly. The needle goes up and down. The feed dogs are working. Although I have not tried to sew with it, I see no reason why it should not sew. This is a chain stitch machine so there are no shuttles or bobbins. The wood base and case are NOT original. The machine slides nicely into the case for storage. It is solid wood. The attachments shown are included (ruffler, hemmer, extra needles. price guide and photocopied manual). Please refer to the pictures as they are an integral part of this description. Ask questions; I'll try to respond promptly.Local collection is available or I can ship by UPS.Good luck bidding on this American made machine.
