Up for auction is this beautiful Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "WILLIAMS & REPPERT / GREENSBORO, PA," circa 1885. A cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-squared rim, decorated with freehand stripes, a stenciled flourish, and a freehand 2 flanked by flourishes at base. Interior of jar's rim designed to hold a lid.This is the work of William Williams and Thomas Reppert who worked together from 1880-1884 and again after 1890.In good condition. Some scattered spots of glaze wear with a small chip on the inside of the rim that has a patina of its own, so it's old too! - please refer to the pictures. No base chips, hairlines, cracks, stains, or restoration.Please view the full gallery of pictures as part of the description. Crock measures 12 inches high, and 8 inches at its widest point. Opening is about 7 inches in diameter.
