ANTIQUE ~ WM. L. GILBERT SHELF MANTLE CLOCK ~ SWANDescription :
You are bidding on an antique, William L. Gilbert Clock Company, wooden shelf clock. The label on the back reads:
Wm. L. Gilbert Clock Co.
Please see all 13 photos.
This clock does keep time, and the pendulum swings, although I don't know how accurately. It has a beautiful sounding chime, but I don't know how accurate that is either. I can't guarantee that this clock will work properly or if it needs some work, so this clock is being sold as is.
The stenciling on the front door glass is very worn, however it comes with some extra stenciling. The glass in the door is not cracked or chipped. The door latch and hinges are secure and work good allowing the door to open and close properly. T are two keys (one does not fit) and an extra clock mechanism, that I'm not sure what it's for or w it's from.
The wooden case of the clock is in very good condition. T are some marks and seven small holes in the wood behind the pendulum area. Looks like something use to be t? Also looks like the gears behind the face may have been taken out and re-screwed back in as the screws are in a different spot now (see photos #6 & 10). T are some spots in the wood on the top of the case (see photo #3). All the ornate wood is in very good shape, with nothing broken off. T is a horizontal line across the wood on the back, top that looks broken, but it is not and is very sturdy.
This beautiful, wooden clock measures 22" tall, 13 3/4" wide and 4 1/4" deep.
This time instrument is rich with history and just waiting for the right person to give it some tender, loving care and bring it back to it's full potential.
