our other antique radios! We post new listings of antique radios frequently! Here we have a rare 1937 Mantola model 6-W tableradio. This Art Deco beauty features a beautiful dark walnut cabinet, waterfall top design, bright green magic tuning eye, attractive gold dial, and exceptional performance on the AM broadcast and shortwave bands. Cabinet: The dark walnut cabinet is simply stunning. Beautiful swirling wood grain flows throughout the entire cabinet. The waterfall top design adds elegance and style. A large Art Deco grill, with solid wood louvers, not only looks great but allows for optimal sound from the speaker. It all comes together magnificently when powered up as the large gold dial shines and a bright green magic tuning eye looks down from above. Dark walnut tones and black ‘claw’ feet finish the cabinet off perfectly. All original labels are still intact inside the cabinet, and on the chassis, including the final inspection tags! This rare beauty is sure to be the main topic of conversation no matter which room in the home or office you choose to display it in. The Cabinet’s Finish & Restoration Process: Our Radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. We then sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood. All nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer is re-secured. New stains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using a minimum 12 coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners. We use a nitrocellulose piano type lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A 1000, 2000, & 4000 grit wet sanding follows every third coat. The cabinet is finished off with a three step polishing process ending with an Oz glaze rub. Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster& shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office. Dial/Knobs: The large gold dial is a real attention getter. It lights nice and bright and features two dial scales in a black font with a surrounding Art Deco design. Located at the top of the dial is a bright green magic tuning eye looking down on all! Quite an impressive sight! All numbers and letters on the scale are legible and show little signs of wear. The shiny brass escutcheon adds a nice touch. All four knobs are in excellent shape and work as follows; on/off & volume, tone, tuning, and band switch. Electronics/Chassis: All tubes in the 6 tube (including eye) chassis were tested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps, filters, and resistors were checked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced or re-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed, and re-aligned for optimal performance. The radio performs exceptionally well on the AM broadcast and shortwave bands. I am able to pick up many stations, near and far, with deep rich tone and plenty of volume. A 30 day warranty is included on all the tubes, capacitors, resistors, and filters. Due to age and design of some antique radio parts we cannot warranty transformers, coils, and speakers. However, if at any time these parts would happen to fail, we will assist in repairing or replacing the defective part at minimal cost.
