T was a long anticipated Estate Sale in the Boston area recently, with a local loaded old estate that had been untouched in 50 years. I got up early enough to be in the first group to enter. Great antiques of every conceivable kind- and everything covered in 50-80 years of grime! Among the items I purchased from the basement were a great set of 4 Antique Paint Decorated Firkin Buckets (see last photo for a group shot of all four together). This auction is for one of these Firkins. is a Great Old WOODEN FIRKIN BUCKET in OLD CREAM-COLORED PAINT with " POWERED SUGAR " painted on one side . Appears to be early-20thC vintage or tabouts. Base is 9-3/8" high, 10-1/4" wide at the bottom and 9-1/2" wide at the top . This is the only one which is missing it's lid. But still, the base is one of the nicer-looking of the four. In addition to the Sugar label, t is also early chalk writing on the bottom- not sure if it is a date or old price or what. Handle is in good shape and swings fine. One of the bottom strapings has a 4" long split line and crack on the rear side. Several old extra nail reinforcements around the bottom. Nice old piece of American Folk Art! USPS Priority Mail or Parcel Post shipping options available anyw in the U.S.- your choice. Insurance is extra above the shipping calculator costs. Look for the other three Firkins from read more
