ANTIQUE WOODEN FLOUR SIFTER SIEVE FROM EARLY 1900'S

For auction is a superb hand made wooden flour sifter or sieve. In days gone by, these unique pieces were used by the farmers or bakers to cleanse the milled wheat of impurities. Today, they adorn walls and often display other country items. This piece has three individual bands of wood that have been connected by very thin nails. As per the photo, the number 60 is stenciled on the sifter. It measures 4" tall and 9 1/2" in diameter. The wire mesh is "very fine" and was probably the final step in sifting before the flour was turned into bread. The mesh is 100% intact and has no holes. I have seen reproductions in local stores starting at $60.00; this item is not a reproduction or fake import. I bought it in the Efiel region of Germany.
