This unique box is probably 99% intact. It measures 6 1/2x 3 3/4.I'm assuming it was jostled around quite a bit over the years... And even after observing many photos, I cannot hope to put it back to its original order, lol. The outside of the box is stunning. The original velvet inside is quite worn. These boxes are over a hundred years old, and are hard to come by as most were removed from the sewing machines before they were sold. From Wikipedia:A Singer puzzle box is a collection of accessories for a sewing machine. Produced by the Singer Manufacturing Company during the 19th and 20th centuries, these neat and compact kits provide supplies and attachments for easing many common sewing tasks. At the time they were called 'Style' boxes, and were numbered consecutively from 1 ("Style No. 1") to 14 as newer versions evolved from older ones. They are now 'vintage', in museums and collections, although many extant sets are still in service.More History:The boxes include accessory attachments for hemming, braiding, underbraiding, tucking, shirring, binding, quilting, and ruffling, plus spare needles, bobbins, screws, and screwdrivers.I do love the history behind our delightful sewing attachments and accessories. I saw my first puzzle box over a year ago and my interest was piqued immediatley! If you have one available, look at it closely read more
