Antique Wooden Sleigh with Metal Rails Thisis an obviously old and well-used wooden sleigh. I do not know its history so I don’t know if it is home made or manufactured but it is soundly constructed. The solid oak runners are bound by metal. The main decking, which is also oak is in good shape with the exception of one plank that has a crack in it. Most of the metal on the rails is still in place. One side is missing the very end of the runner and the ornamental curlicue. There are four symmetrical holes on the deck, two in the front and two in the back. My guess is handrails for two riders were removed somewhere along the way. The sled is 44 by 17 inches in length and weighs over 17 lbs. The patina of the wood is aged, but you can still tell the sled was originally a dark red. It is definitely of sound construction. Wish I did know more about it because it could probably tell some tales of fun times. Please study the pictures carefully. We want you to be satisfied with your purchase.
