A rare find in very good original condition. This very old meat and/or foul hearth tool has an adjustable rack with seven forged hooks that would give the option of high, medium or low heat in the good old days; actually, four levels are possible. It has penny feet, nice finials at the tops, and is a stunning example of the fine iron craftsmanship of the past. This is all original, right out of an old Vermont barn, cobwebs included. It is very sturdy, while retaining an aged surface-rust appearance. The piece measures 23-1/2 inches high by 22 inches wide and 11 inches deep, foot to foot.
