Antique WWII German Etched Silver Cigarette Case Box

This is a fascinating piece. It is a souvenir my client's grandfather brought home with him from WWII. My client remembers playing with this box as a child, and he remembers that t is some sort of significance to the Nazi Flag flying next to the specific building etched into the box with the clock tower at exactly 6 o'clock, but he does not remember enough of the story to remember the exact significance of the portrayal. I love hearing the stories associated with old items. As I hold them in my hand, I think of the many hands that have held this, and I wonder...who first held this in their hand? This box is hand etched. it is a beautiful example of German workmanship with the fantastic detailing. The catch has a small oval dome of inset amber. T are two tiny identical markings stamped on the inside of each piece. I cannot tell if t is a mark, a symbol, or a letter in them. One is an oval, and one is a diamond shape. Inside the front piece t is a spot that appears to have had a name scratched into it. Although this box is not marked sterling, it has the wonderful golden patina silver develops with age, and I will not touch that patina to test it.
