Large Antique 1852 Ironstone TeapotCorn & Oats PatternDavenport Ironstone, England This gorgeous Ironstone Teapot was made in 1852 by Davenport, England. The pattern name is "Corn & Oats". This lovely teapot is decorated with corn ears and husks and trailing corn leaves. The teapot is approx. 7 3/4" tall (not including the lid). The bottom edge is 4 3/4" wide - from the tip of the handle to the spout it is 9" wide. The bottom is marked with the Davenport Anchor Logo and also the Registry Mark - both are very light. I believe the registry mark dates this piece to 1852, but it is hard to read.Condition: The Teapot in very good used condition for it's age. There are some manufacturer's faults in the ironstone. Under the top edge there is a manfacturing fault crack in the pottery only on the outside - it does does extend into the piece (it is not very noticeable because it is under the edge). There is also another fault on the inside of the spout (see the last picture) - this again does not extend to the outside of the spout. There is roughness along the spout edge (top and bottom). There is no crazing on the teapot body - there are some minor imperfections. The lid does have overall crazing, and there is no vent hole. I am not sure if this is the correct lid - it does fit fine on the pot. Priority Mail Shipping with Insurance Payment read more
