This is a stunning and rare silver and black onyx necklace by the rnowned Mexican silversmith, Antonio Pineda. The half moons of black onyx set in bezel cups is characteristic of some of his 1950s work. The half moons are graduated in size. They are interspersed with a classic Renaissance or Rococo shell-like design motif. Each element is hinged so t is a great deal of movement and flexibility, allowing the necklace to sit beautifully on the neck. It is in excellent condition. The interior measurement around the neck is approximately 15". The decorative silver elements are a little less than 1/2" wide. It sits like a delicate collar around the neck. The Antonio Pineda Taxco crown mark is stamped on the back along with "STERLING/MEXICO", "SILVER 970", "YY" what I believe is an eagle hallmark, and "622".
