DESCRIPTION: This is a STUPENDOUS 970 silver bracelet that was hand wrought in Taxco, Mexico, after 1948, by world renowned silver maestro, ANTONIO PINEDA (1919-2009). Antonio Pineda is considered one of the finest designers/artists to emerge from the Mexican Silver Renaissance. As a young boy, he worked for Maestro William Spratling at Taller de Las Delicias . He left Spratling and formed his own workshop in 1941. His art-to-wear jewelry is coveted by collectors worldwide. Maestro Antonio Pineda sadly passed away in 2009 and the world lost a legendary designer and artisan. This bracelet is made of 970 silver which is almost PURE silver and is superior to sterling silver 925. It is masterfully crafted in an elegant and sophisticated design. The bracelet is made of thick, heavy gauge silver links that fit together like a puzzle and create a "chainmail" woven link bracelet ~ a design with eternal appeal that is crafted with superb workmanship by a true silver maestro! The clasp is quite unique ~ one end has a silver cylindrical piece that slides into an open cylinder on the opposite side and there is a silver safety catch. The silver has acquired a wonderful, soft patina that reflects the shadows created by the depth of the designs. This magnificent bracelet is extremely well made in a timeless and sumptious design that will ALWAYS be in style ~ it is collector, heirloom, and museum quality ~ quite simply, THE BEST!!! SIZE: Inside circumference is 7-1/2", width is 7/8", and weight is 94.4 grams. CONDITION : Excellent vintage condition ~ no dings/dents to the silverwork ~ minor surface scratches consistent with normal wear and age (and actually desirable on vintage jewelry!) ~ no damage noted ~ just about PERFECT used condition! HALLMARKS : The hallmark is on the cylindrical clasp and it is so worn, that only the right side impression of Antonio's crown mark can be seen and it is marked with a very legible "970" ~ please see both close-up pictures.
