This anvil is a bit out of the ordinary Vulcan cast steel anvil. Aside from some surface rust and some chips scattered across the faces, this is NEW OLD STOCK. T are no indents, chips on the edges of striking areas, cracks, chunks missing, no sign that this anvil was ever used for forging. If you have ever wanted to try out a cast steel or "urban" (non-ringing) anvil to see if it would hold up to your purposes, "S YOUR CHANCE. You can find discussions as to the relative merits and demerits of the cast versus forged anvils at and the like. I do not know what will work for your purposes. On the other end of possible uses, this would make a great ornamental piece. The woman I bought it from about 6 years ago said she bought it from someone who had used it for a doorstop for about 25 years on her front porch. In any event, a local pick up is advised, as this one weighs about 125 pounds, expensive to ship. If you must ship, I will charge an additional $35.00 USD to crate plus shipping charges.
