AOIFEIrish Heritage Doll Fine Porcelain Collection Designed in Ireland Exclusively for ALL CRAFT ~ Made in Ireland ~ DESCRIPTION CONDITION : New YEAR : 2005 Aoife is 12" tall and is wearing a green traditional Irish dancing dress and black dance shoes. She is made of fine porcelain and has been hand-painted. Includes a doll stand. The Irish Heritage Doll Collection features a range of traditional costumes on finely crafted hand-painted porcelain dolls. Great care has been taken to ensure native coloring on the figures and costumes. Each doll has been finished to the highest standard. Ireland has a strong dance tradition dating as far back as the 15th century. It together with native music, was the focal point of community gatherings down through the ages. The most popular of the Irish dance are the jig and the reel with many dances involving both solo and group dancing. From 1829 the dance mater came into existence, he was a wandering dancing teacher who traveled from village to village teaching dances to children. These dance masters existed in rural Ireland right up to the early twentieth century but gradually they were replaced by the dance schools that we have today. The costumes worn by the dancers are as important as the dance itself. Each Irish dance school has its own distinct costume and most of the dresses are adorned by intricate embroidery designs inspired by the Book of Kells. Irish Heritage Dolls have attempted to reproduce the history and magic of Irish dance in this beautiful Irish porcelain doll. Please refer to the photos for additional information.
