We will combine items for shipping when ever possible to save you on postage. This is a large Sterling Silver coin Struck to commemorate the Apollo 13 mission. The coin is approx. 1/2 oz in weight and larger than a US half dollar. Reeded edge and proof finish. The front features a very detailed relief of the Lunar surface. The back of the coin shows the Apollo 13 LEM Jetison phase of the mission. Historical Note: Apollo 13's LEM never made a landing on the Moon. Instead it was used as a lifeboat for the crew as they only orbited the Moon on their way back to Earth. Apollo 13's crew never landed on the Moon due to unscheduled explosion in the service module earlier in the mission. This coin is highly sought after by collectors. The piece contains a small amount of material from the actual Apollo 13 flight. The material has been flown into space around the Moon and back. These coins were authorized by NASA and struck by the Franklin Mint. Never offered for sale to the public. Instead they were presentation pieces for Astronaut families, associates and various VIPs and dignitaries involved with the space program. Includes a glossy 4"x6" color
