This is a Covered Butter Dish... in one of my favorite glass colors... Aqua Blue Opalescent... and favorite patterns... the "Eye Winker"!!!... This beauty stands about 4 and 3/4 inches tall with the Cover... or Top on. The Butter Dish itself is 1 ½ inches tall... to the top of its hand crimped "Pie Crust" style rim... and 7 ½ inches across. Both the Cover and the Dish appear to be in excellent condition. A generous frosting of Opalescence blushes the outer rim of this stunning Butter Dish. As we leave this outer rim the Opalescence dissipates to reveal an almost "crystal" like Aqua Blue color that is the body glass of this piece. As for the Cover... The handle of the Cover also has just a light "blush" of Opalescence... and again that " Crystal " like Aqua Blue body glass... then with another "kiss" of Opalescence as we reach the bottom edge. I see an "M" in a shield... shaped like the state of Ohio ... right in the center of the bottom of the Dish. This is the mark of the Mosser Glass Company. But I believe this old "Eye Winker" pattern was originated by the L. G. Wright Glass Company. So we'll assume that L. G. Wright introduced the pattern... but Mosser Glass at some point acquired the molds... and produced this stunning... Aqua Blue Opalescent... Covered Butter Dish.
