Here is an example of our Ancestor’s lost ability ofImagining beauty then hand crafting, making, molding and creating works of art like this, All Original Hand Made Free Blown Chestnut Flask This Auction is for a Beautifully Colored Bright Aqua Deep Open Pontiled, Free Blown, Rolled "Gaffer Tooled" Blob Lip, "Chestnut Flask" This piece dates well over 100 to 200 years old, Possibly Older! You just don’t quality items made like this nowadays, it’s all Imported, Made Cheaply or Machined. A BEAUTIFUL EARLY EXAMPLE OF THIS STYLE OF GLASS BLOWING, CIRCA PRE - 1850s The Base as you can see has a VERY deep, “Sharp Circular Shaped Open Pontil” The Bottle measures just above, 9” Tall, Base touching surface is about , 3 ¾” Wide, The Middle Section at the biggest part Is about, 5” Wide The “Pontil” Opening in the Center of the break on the Base is " 5/8”Wide " also it is very deep , forming a ”Cone Shaped Mound” on the Inside Base of the Flask The Condition of this Piece despite its age is just Phenomenal. No Cracks or Chips, it does have a small touch of internal cloudiness and minimal wear which is very light VERY FEW smooth micro scratches, besides one very minor scratch that you can feel (under 1/2" ) it is great! I have cleaned it some but don’t want to clean it too vigorously as glass this old can be VERY Fragile. However
