Gorgeous Arabia of Finland Ahola Yellow Rose Collector Vase! Exquisite Flared Shape Showcases Bright Yellow Interior 6+ inches tall Mint Condition A striking piece of artwork, somewhat cone shaped, the vase expands from the narrow 2.5 inch diameter at the base to flare out to 4 inches across at the top. The mouth is wide, a 1950's look with smooth lines. It is lovely. Against a smooth cool white matte background, the handpainted large yellow rose and one yellow bud top a curvy stem, with beautiful dark green foliage that frames the yellow flowers. The interior and lip are a matte yellow to match the roses. The design is brilliant. The condition is mint, like new; the Arabia handicraft label is still affixed to the baseline. Although it is probably 40 years old, t are no chips, cracks, repairs or defects; it is a pleasure to hold in one's hand. The artist, Hilkka-Liisa Ahola, was born in 1920 in Helsinki. The Arabia factory list of designers places her at Arabia from 1947 to 1974. Ceramic Art in Finland (Asa Hellman, editor, published 2004) states that following her Grand Prix award at the Faenza Ceramics Biennial in 1968, she was promoted to Arabia's Art Department, w she combined methods such as sgraffito and brush decoration with glazes and luster technique. Ahola was known for superb color and ornamentation. She is associated with an intensive blue color palette, encompassing all shades from cobalt to turquoise and purple. Some shipping services (Global Priority) include insurance up to a set limit, so please inquire if you wish to make sure you are fully covered for damage in transit. International Buyers: I ship to Europe, Canada , Japan , New Zealand and Australia . I charge you shipping at my cost. In addition, on non-US currency, t is a charge for Shipping and Handling, which is 3.9% of the total invoice plus $.30 to cover currency conversion fees. That is what PayPal charges me. Returns: US and Canadian buyers may return items within 7 days if significantly not as described for full credit including shipping one way. Due to the high cost of shipping, sales to Europe, Japan , New Zealand or Australia are FINAL. P lease ask me a question if you have a particular concern-- before you bid. M ost of my items are older ceramics or silver, which have been used, and are described as such. Ceramics often have tiny manufacturing flaws; such as bubbles in the glaze, that are to be expected. "Mint" condition means "like new" not flawless, and "Excellent" condition means t may be signs of light use or age, such as minor crazing or small scratches. If t is a crack or other damage, I will so state. I photograph any major flaws, but please do not expect me to cite every manufacturing defect like a minor little bubble in the glaze.
