Anemone Pattern Arabia of Finland Vintage, Highly Collectible, 1960's, Retro 4 Standard Cups with Saucers Condition: Excellent Anemone was designed by the famed prize winning artist, Ulla Procope, in the 1960's. The Anemone line was one of Arabia's best sellers in North America, but was discontinued in the 1980's due to the Arabia factory being bought out by Rosenthal. The Anemone pattern is hand painted in cobalt blue on a pale gray-blue ground. Cups and serving pieces are encircled with a garland of hand painted anemone flowers; plates and bowls feature the dark cobalt blue bands. DETAILS: These are the standard short wide Arabia cups with the larger saucer that many Europeans and some Americans prefer. These stack very nicely, as you can see in the photo. The marks on the bottom indicates this set was manufactured in the first half of the 1960's as the saucers have the oven mark showing they are oven-proof. One cup has the oven mark as well, which is pretty rare. All the cups are individually signed by the artist who painted them. The cup is 4 inches in diameter at the rim and 2 inches tall. The saucer is 6 1/2 inches in diameter. Condition: Good, shiny, no crazing, repairs, cracks, dings or fleabites, no interior stains or utinsel marks. One cup has a tiny brown dot inside that looks like it happened during manufacture. read more
