It is fired at super high temperatures so that the stoneware body becomes virtually indestructible. Arabia stoneware is oven proof, freezer proof, dishwasher proof, and almost chip-proof. And most importantly, Arabia stoneware can be used in your microwave oven. The stoneware is glazed with mottled dark chocolate-brown and black matte glaze. Designed: Ulla Procope in 1960 for ARABIA of Finland. Ulla designed it with the following idea. The Finnish meaning of the world, Ruska is the autumn colors of Lapland. In the fall of the year, Lapland turns to hues of brown. The fall foliage is highlighted by yellows and red, and some orange tones are even seen. These colors are perfect for coordinating with your set of Ruska at home. Imagine Ruska with wood, with straws, or with heavily woven fabrics
