Summer In Our Hearts - Set of 3 Porcelain Wall Plaques - Arabia Finland - HeljÃ¤ Liukko-SundstrÃ¶m This set of 3 large wall plaques is the complete series consisting of: Ringed Seal, Jetty and Bird's Nest. Designed in 1997. Professor HeljÃ¤ Liukko-SundstrÃ¶m is well-known as an artist and storyteller, whose original ceramics fondly remind us of all the beauty surrounding us. The Saimaa Ringed Seal (Pusa hispida saimensis) is a subspecies of Ringed Seal (Pusa hispida) . They are among the most endangered seals in the world, having a total population of only about 270 individuals. The only existing population of these seals is found in Lake Saimaa, Finland (hence the name). The population is descended from Ringed Seals that were separated from the rest when the land rose after the last ice age. This seal, along with the Ladoga Seal and the Baikal Seal, is the only living seal to live its life entirely in freshwater. Each wall plaque measures 14" (35 cm) high x 7" (18 cm) wide.
