This archaic jade carving is from the autonomous region of present day Inner Mongolia. It is a Hongshan Culture artifact that dates back to 3500 - 2200 BC. This is an authentic piece, not a reproduction. It is a rare find that will increase steadily in value. This piece is from my personal collection and it is a bit difficult but necessary to let it go.Somew around 5,000 years ago this jade carving was used in a funeral rite to assist the passage of a soul from this plane to the next. A symbol of heaven & sky, this revered jade object accompanied an individual who passed from this plane as a promise of rebirth into a higher realm. Many jade cloud pei wear strong faces, and many carry animal shapes within them as does this one. The designs are as endlessly varied as are the patterns found in clouds. The dragons on this piece are full of character and the thunderhead carving below them is so skillfully carved. I am going to let the pictures speak for this one. It is one of my very best and a long time favorite. I typically sell these at shows or in my store for $300 to $600. This is a great opportunity to pick a cloud up at a fraction of this cost.
