Superb Egyptian turquoise glazed-composition Eye of Horus, with finely incised details and a raised iris highlighted with black slip. Pierced through for suspension.
Eye of Horus, or Wedjat-Eye, represents the left moon-eye of the falcon-form sky god Horus, it was one of the most powerful of all protective amulets. It was believed to prevent malign influence and protect against the evil eye, as well as magically heal wounds.
