THE ARGYLL AND SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS 2nd LIEUTENANT 2Lt SLATE GREY SHIRT RANK SLIDE An unused and unworn pair of rank slides to a Second Lieutenant 2Lt in The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, a famous Scottish regiment of the British Army. The rank slides depict an embroidered Bath star or rank pip above an embroidered unit designation A&SH. All in black embroiderery on the unique slate grey coloured rank slides of The Argylls. These slides were initially worn on the unique slate grey shirt of the Argylls, worn only by commissioned officers, Warrant Officers and the Pipes and Drums of this Highland regiment. Later they were also worn for a very short tme on the slate grey jersey, prior to the very short lived change in designation on the slides to AandSH which fell into misuse, as did the slides and grey shirt / jersey on amalgamation of the Scottish regiments in March 2006.
