This Armand Marseille doll has a bisque head and composite body and is marked as model 250-8. She has brown glass eyes and an open mouth with a slight smile showing her fine white teeth. She is 24 inches tall and is in need of complete restringing. All her limbs, hands and feet are present. Her hair is still glued on but may need replacing and her sleeping eyes will need resetting. There are 2 dresses with her but I am unsure if they are original. I know the doll's provenance and believe it to date from around 1918-1920. Please email if you require any further photos. I believe her name was Floradora and would be happy if anyone could confirm this or correct my assumption. Located in Koppelsdorf, in the Thuringia region of Germany, the Armand Marseille doll company was at the heart of the German dollmaking revolution in the 1890s. Started by Armand Marseille in 1865, the company didn't make dolls until approximately 1885. Armand Marseille, Jr. was at the head of the company for the majority of the company's dollmaking years. Armand died in 1920 but the company continued to produce dolls until 1926. For further information the Composite body has the number 13 stamped on the back. On advice from a fellow ebayer and on checking under the glued on wig the doll is an Ernest Heubach model number 250-8
