Rare Armand Marseille Marrionette Jestor Doll Original Description Oh what a breath taking treasure to find .this is a lovely and rare German bisque Armand Marseille marionette doll. She is 17" tall, has a perfect bisque head with brown eyes, painted lashes, nice full blushed cheeks, a opened mouth with teeth. Her lips are painted a nice soft pale red. Her eyes have been repaired and reset. She has her original wig that is full and still holds some curl. Her mold # is 390. She is made just like a marionette or Jester. Several strings are threaded through out her body, clothes and wig. Her body is ball jointed and is strung using chain, this giving her the mobility and looseness needed to stimulate puppet moves. Her legs are ball jointed at the hip. The rest of her legs are solid except at the ankle of her feet again for the movement of puppet. Her hands a perfect all fingers accounted for. I had her head stabilized when her eyes wear repaired because her head was extremely floppy. Keep in mind examining her body would be very difficult because string is attached to her body, then the string is threaded through the clothes thus making it almost impossible unless one knows what they are doing..I don't so I won't! Her clothing is original and definitely antique. Her dress and coat is made of silk type material. Dress is sleeveless. Dress has a darker brocade designs around the skirt area. Her jacket is made of the same material. Lots of lace around the wrist as well as the collar. Her leggings are made of the same material. Legs are fully covered all the way up under her dress..She has her original shoes however one of the fancy diamond decorations is missing..around the ankles are loose. She has a old piece of jewelry around her wrist that came with her possibly original to her or may have been added years later don't know. Her clothing is fragile and has a few holes to the front of her jacket..in the back the skirting of the dress needs to be stitched a little. Her clothing has never been removed from her body as they are sewn onto her. The clothes are a little faded and or dirty...not stained..just old. The string from one leg has come loose and will be included..She does not have the sticks as most puppets do and will need a little work to get the strings affixed to a stick. I do not have her wig glued down, but in order for her to be used as a puppet her wig needs to be glued as this is what helps hold her up She is a very unique, rare and beautiful doll. I can imagine the delight the children and adults alike must have had seeing this beautiful doll in motion during a puppet play. I have taken lots of pictures for you to view her..
