Armenian Armed Forces were established on January 28, 1992, by decree of the President of the Republic of Armenia. Since that time January 28 has been celebrating in Armenia as a public holiday. The coin depicts the Order of the Combat Cross of the Second Degree and the Emblem of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia. The Order of the Combat Cross is awarded for absolute courage, selflessness and skills in defending the Fatherland. Designed by H. Samuelian.
