15th Century Gauntlets, enhanced with gold trim, for use with full size 15th century suit of armor. Made of 17 gauge steel.
The materials used to make these gauntlets are much the same as the original ones: molded iron and steel, with the metal specially finished with an "old patina" and rust protected. Preserving Cultural Heritage This beautiful reproduction armor was made in Toledo, Spain, the same town where armor and weapons were produced during the Medieval era. The skills necessary to produce these extraordinary pieces have been passed down in a continuous line since before the Medieval era. An ancient Medieval town historically famous for its high quality art and steel work, during the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries both the production and fame of this industry reached a peak when the Sword-Cutlers Guild was first established. The Sword-Cutlers Guild functioned as a kind of craft union to teach blademakers the skills necessary to produce the sword and to protect and preserve their monopoly on the trade. Craftsmen throughout Europe and the East came to Toledo to learn from the Guild artisans the secrets of making these inimitable swords, armor and weapons.
