Offered is a vintage Air Forces / Army Sextant for an A-10A aircraft. Included are several maps, charts, and notes including notes sketched on a piece of leather. I am not a pilot or a navigator, but this is a really cool piece of aviation history and it looks like it still works. It comes in the original wooden box and t are maps and other documents in several places. I found the leather chart and some maps rolled up inside a cylindrical tube, some stuck in the lid of the box, and still more, including a 1962 Salt Lake calendar, under a metal compartment on the top of the sextant. T is a compas type protractor in the lid and some small pin-type tools in a 'rack' in the corner of the case. T is a tag on the side of the sextant that describes this as being manufactured by Fairchild Camera abd Instrument Corporation;name of article is A-10A, AF 44-8917; type W30-053 AC-806; Serial number 27473; and spec number E320-K1. T's not much more I can tell you about this item. I bought it at a large estate auction along with a bunch of other items from all over the world. It's a nice conversation piece but, I don't usually have pilot type conversations and the physics and math of navigation is beyond my capabilities. Tfore, buy it and enjoy it.
