Wow! I never even knew theseexisted, and I have been called “The Sling King Of ebay”. (Vintage, rare and collectibles only). This is a very rare offering. It comes with all the original paperwork and is guaranteed original US issue and not an Asian copy. Issued as a National Match MRT marked leather sling. MRT stands for “Mildew resistant treatment”. US armories developed this process in the 1960’s to prevent mold growth on stored leather items, mainly holsters. Arsenal repacked in the early 90's. An alert ebayer informed me that the MRT program began in WW2 and went through various formulations, and markings, over the years. This sling has been treated with the latest (Vietnam era) formula. This sling was also officially issued for fitment to the M14 rifle. Parkerized black steel hardware fastened with bronze mini rivets. As the paperwork says these will need oiling before use. This will result in not only increased softness but also produce a rich brown color. Measures 1.25 inches wide with a maximum length of about 40 inches. I collect and offer more vintage and rare military rifle slings than any other ebay seller I know of. Mark me as a Favorite Seller as I post new offerings as soon as I can find them at reasonable prices. Many are available in very limited quantities which is why I usually offer a reasonable Buy It Now
