An Artillery Officer's Visor Peaked Cap in Excellent Condition. Material condition, stitching is excellent throughout. No Mothing, no rips, no tears to the fabric. The ONLY flaw with this item is a 1/8" tear in the leather sweatband just to the left of the visor Top is of Wool Gabardine in Feldgrau (Field Gray) Top and both edges of the sides are highlighted with Red Waffenfarbe indicating that this is a cap for an Artillery Officer in the Heer (Army) Side bands are of rich dark green mohair Chin Cord is silver cello cord Chin Cord held in place by two pebbled silver aluminum buttons Visor is black vulcan construction in excellent condition Interior had full sweatshield to the top with maker's Diamond shield and a piece of paper with "59" for the size of the cap inserted into it. The shield bears the maker's logo and "TRADITION" /G. Ahlers (the maker)/"Potsdam" (the maker's location The brown leather sweatband is intact and supple with the 1/8" tear previously noted. Otherwise excellent. The original or a subsequent owner folded up German language newspaper and inserted it inside the sweatband to make the hat a better fit. Papers have not been removed for examination due to their advanced age The cockade is metal three part construction. A black rosette base, an aluminum circle and a red felt center The wreath, etc are finely detailed silver wire bullion.
This cap is a beauty. Obtained from an auction house out east with over 40 years' experience selling WWII militaria. This item, as are all German Items I sell, is guaranteed to be original, German, Pre-May 1945 issue and as described. Money back if not 100% satisfied.
