US Special Forces advisors deployed to Vietnam in the early 60s in uniforms unsuited for the vicious guerrilla war awaiting them. New jungle uniforms were developed, based on the paratroop uniforms of WW2. The jacket featured four roomy bellows pockets, the top two slanted inward at a jaunty angle, shoulder eppaulettes, and waist adjustment tabs. The jacket was constructed of cool 100% cotton OD poplin, not ripstop. The 2nd pattern jungle uniform featured the shoulder straps and waist adjusters of the 1st pattern, but covered the previously exposed buttons on the pocket flaps. The 2nd pattern can almost be considered more rare than the first pattern, as it was only produced for one year, 1966. This US Army Vietnam 2nd pattern jungle jacket is in mint, unissued condition with no rips, holes, tears or any fading. It is a size Large Long, a rare, desirable size for these jackets. It is dated 1966 and is complete with all original government tags. This is the finest 2nd pattern jungle jacket we have ever encountered. A great relic of "Uncle Sam in Vietnam".
