Arne Vodder designed Teak High-back Lounge Chair Description: You are looking at what I believe is an Arne Vodder designed teak high-back lounge chair from Denmark, that was produced by C France and imported to the United States by John Stuart Inc. To the best of my knowledge and research, this piece is completely in its original form, with spring/foam pillows and original upholstery. It should be noted, that I am neither a furniture nor mid-century design expert, and that my opinion on this piece is just that. It seems that this piece is very, very rare, and as such, finding information on the chair has been difficult. This teak chair is beautifully sculpted, and an excellent example of mid century design and craftsmanship. It has three different settings, in different stages of recline. The inside of both sides is inscribed with "made in denmark". Both the C France and John Stuart medallions are in perfect condition at the base of the backrest. The C France medallion has the numeric code, "6226531" inscribed. I believe the cushions and red/black uphostery are original, because I purchased this chair about 10 years ago, at an estate sale in Colorado, w the home owners were originally from New York. The cushions have a zipper along the back/bottom edge, and when I unzipped this recently, I found the spring coils were wrapped in foam (fairly typical of the era). Furthermore, the foam is somewhat delicate at this stage, which leads me to believe it is quite old and perhaps beginning to dry out a bit. Also wrapped in one of the coils, is a label (see photo), that has the C France name, cushion dimensions, and "Hillerod", which is the town in Denmark w I believe the piece was produced. Both the bottom cushion and the back cushion have these tags. One of the tags is ripped, but still quite readable. T aren't any tags on the removable cushion covers, but the condition of them indicate that they certainly are not new. Measurements: Length of the arms - appx 27 1/2", Length between back legs and fron legs - appx 27 1/2", Width (from outside arm to outside arm) appx. 30 1/2" Height: When chair vertical = appx 36 3/4", When chair fully reclined = appx 32 1/2" ***Please let me know if you want specific measurements*** This is a beautiful chair, and I believe it to be an exceptionally rare example. If you receive this piece, and it is not the Arne Vodder chair you expected to purchase, I will accept returns within 2 weeks after you have received the item. Condition: Chair - The teak on this chair is in excellent condition. T are some minor nicks and scratches, consistant with the piece's age. Nothing major however. Again, I am not an expert, but the chair seems to me to be in great condition. The original "springs" in the seat bottom are in perfect order. Upon looking at the chair, the only scratches of note are on the chair's left front leg, just below the armrest. Please let me know if you would like photos. I will send them to you in an email. Cushions - T are definitely signs of the fabric's age on the cushions, particularly the seat cushion. On the underside of the seat cushion, t is definitely some fabric that has begun to come up and rip slightly. T are not major gashes in the fabric, but the nature of the fabric lends itself to the fabric pilling (it is sort of a wide red/black weave, and if one of the threads breaks, it begins to "loosen up". I have attempted to take a photo of this, but I would be happy to send some additional photos if you request them. The top of the seat cushion is in pretty darn good condition, with only spot w this is happening. I do not know if it is repairable. The seatback cushion is in escellent condition on the front. No problems at all. The top of it has a very minor pull. The seatback cushion does have some discoloration on the back. The piece was sitting near a window for many years, and the UVs have caused the seatback cushion to lose some of its lu...
