You are bidding on an original copper plaque / wall hanging sculpture by Arpad Rosti (American, 1909-1999). It measures approx. 40 by 24 by 1 1/2 inches. It is signed near the edge ROSTI. See photo. The surface is deeply etched with abstract designs and the whole piece has a sort of natural amoeba like shape. The back has about 9 or 10 places where it looks like small leveling feet may have been attached at one time. There are round impressions in lead solder in these places. If you do a search under completed items you will see a very similar piece that was listed on eBay not too long ago. The abstract designs on this piece are deeply etched into the heavy thick copper. The piece appears to have been meant to display with the long side vertical. The designs seem to grow upwards and the signature is then right side up at the bottom. There is one tiny hole that has been drilled into the plaque about 1/8 inch or less. This appears to be original to the piece and may have been used to hang the object. CONDITION: GOOD. The surface has been recently polished but could be polished even further. The back has it's original untouched surface. This would display beautifully. It is a hard piece to photograph and my photos don't do it justice. It would make a great coffee table with the addition of a base or some legs. BIO: Born in Hungary, read more
