Art of the Sixties. Kunst der Sechziger Jahre (Sammlung Ludwig im Wallraf-Richartz Museum Köln) (LUDWIG COLLECTION. 5th revised edition). Edited by G. von der OSTEN [First Thus Edition] Koln: Wallraf-Richartz Museum, 1971. The definitive fifth revised edition of this famous and striking exhibition catalogue, in itself a work of art designed by Wolf Vostell as the catalogue for the Ludwig collection of contemporary art, given as a permanent loan to the Wallraf-Richartz Museum in Cologne. The covers are embossed plastic, and the 209 color plates are tipped in on special paper and covered with printed transparencies. In total, the work of 92 artists is represented (see below) including objects by Dine, Dubuffet, Hockney, Jasper Johns, Lichtenstein, Oldenburg, Picasso, Rauschenberg, Vostell, Warhol, and Wols. This final fifth edition includes 222 objects, 124 more than appeared in the first edition. With the original see-through soft plastic covers (revealing the screen-printed wrapper featuring a print after Roy Lichtenstein) bound within a thick hard plastic spine attached with metal bolts - the whole designed by Fluxus artist Wolf Vostell.
