Please know, at the outset, that I am not a watch expert. I can only describe in words and photos what this is. I CAN verify that it is very old, since it has been in my family for many many years. (I believe my grandmother got it new.) But circumstances force us to liquidate many of these fine old pieces, even though it's heartbreaking. The watch is hallmarked on the back of the case with a Grecian head (stamped - see photo) T is an 18K and a 0.750 in a small box and a 123 in another odd shaped box. Underneath these numbers is the number 290. Inside the case is the name Wm. Friend, which is also inscribed on the works themselves. The front of the watch has the words "Ancre 15 rubis" which I take to mean 15 rubies, which are really quite obvious (They are bigger than any I've ever seen inside a watch before) in the works themselves. Also on the face of the watch, besides the gold numbers and gold hands, are the words Swiss Made. The crystal is domed and magnifies the numbers. It is in very very good condition. The watch runs, but slowly. I have not tried to have it repaired. The band is rose gold and stamped as such. (with a small rose and a 10K) T are other markings with that stamp but I cannot make them out. I also cannot bring myself to put a very low price on this piece, despite my not knowing much about the watch itself, read more
