1930s Art Deco Beswick Ware Pitcher This pitcher, designed in the 1930s by Mr. Symcox for Beswick Pottery, is an excellent example of Art Deco design. It has a beautiful non-crazing satin matt glaze with soft pastels, amid a bolder brownish color (see photo 4), running into one another to create a marbled or watercolor effect (see photo 5). The colors are gorgeous and include primarily apricot with touches of cream, purple, green, blue, yellow, and brown. The pitcher is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing. The pitcher is marked (see photo 2) : MADE IN ENGLAND 355 Beswick Ware Made in England The first two lines you see above are incised into the bottom of the pitcher, and the last two are ink stamped. The number 355 indicates the Shape No. The pitcher is rather large, measuring approximately 6-3/4" wide (from spout to handle) x 9-7/8" tall.
