This wonderful art deco lamp from the Armour Bronze Company of Taunton, MA was found in a local estate...a one-owner piece, that the heir remembers being in their home "forever". It stands a full 19" tall to the top of the finial, and has what the heir notes is the original shade that accompanied the lamp when brought into her home, a 9 sided fabric with gold embroidery and gold edge paper seams. The lamp is the filled metal so typical of Armour Bronze, and features a nude woman and man in classical poses, separated by a column of pure deco motif...and on the ront of the base, it is signed Olive Kooken, who was a noted artist...and in fact, we found a reference to her on the internet that explained the following..." She was born in Kansas, graduated Wichita High in 1923. Moved to Union City, New Jersy, Very talanted sculptress, loved the arts, was good friends with Minnie Fisk. worked for Tommy Toys, her sculptures were cast in plaster and cast in bronze at a small foundry in Union City." She obvisoulyk branched out a bit, because this lamp was cast in Taunton Ma, at the home of Armour Bronzed. The lamp is working, but should be rewired for safety. It has the original covered wiring attached. It's a two light fixture, with pull chains. THe paint is original, and only a few small spots w it has worn away..on the back of one of the
