Up for auction is a vintage necklace. It is old, most likely from the 30's or so made of brass, it has a worn silver flash and is set with charming round coral colored celluloid flowers. Please see photos for style, design and condition. A pretty piece yet over time and through use it is not pristine and new looking. I mean you will be able to tell that it has age, and nothing wrong with that...the silver flash that once covered this entire piece is now worn at the clasp and along the decorated center portion, especially on the reverse the under metal of brass is revealed -- well, the front too has wear, yet in my opinion only lends to it charm of this piece, and although the celluloid has some crazing no parts are missing from the flowers - they just look old...with character and certainly of the period. Sounds awful? It is isn't...just thought I would get through the tough stuff first :)!! The overall length of this necklace is 16". The center decoration of 9 links measures about 6 1/2" and is made up of the dimensional round multi petalled flowers in graduated sizes, the outer ones 3/8" in diameter x 1/4" tall, and the inner ones 1/2" in diameter x over 1/4" tall. All are set in serrate edged bezels...the connecting links , cloud shaped, pierced and with embossed bead detailing measure 3/4" wide (side to side) and are cable linked to the posies . The pretty 3mm chain that attaches to either side of the center portion is fetter like wire: an oval link followed by three (3) round links connected to an oval link followed to three (3) links, etc. Each side is almost 5" long and the closure is a circular hammer edged spring sleeved clasp in good working order. I think this feminine piece is attractive with its age just as it is, uncleaned, and may look better with a polish...or not, any interest in this old beauty?
