1930s SOWERBY GLASS ELEPHANT HANDLE BOWL WITH MATCHING FLOWER FROG ENGLISH ESTATE ITEM for auction is another wonderful piece of art deco glassware by Sowerby dating from the 1930s with its origins in Northern England. The color is that wonderful rich green typical to the 1930s which has never since been faithfully reproduced. Decorative bowls such as this were manufactured by a multitude of Czech, German and English glass factories during the 1930s and roughly 50% of them were pink. The other colors were pale blue, clear flint, green and amber. However it seems the green ones are are the most sort after now!
Clear, "hammered" & frosted accents are used on this very attractive bowl with its matching flower frog. The elephant head handles a quite intricate considering this is pressed glass. Manufactured by Sowerby of Tyneside, England this particular piece is attributed to 1933. The bowl measures 6" from handle to handle and almost 5" in height - a tiny bit smaller than the other one we have listed that is why they are not being listed as a pair. This will come to you in excellent condition with no chips or cracks and few if any signs of use at all. Don't miss out on this one! Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
