This auction is for the "Hammered" Art Deco flatware set only. I have listed the set of 8 hammered goblets separately. This is an extremely heavy Art Deco set for 8 people with 7 complete dinner and lunch place settings. Not only is it authentic vintage c.1930-40s Art Deco, it is in a very desireable heavy "Hammered" pattern. It was made from a very high grade of 950 sterling silver; standard sterling is 925/1000 parts pure silver, this set is 950/1000. This grade of silver is normally reserved for products of fine quality. This exclusive seems to offer it all: vintage Art Deco, "hammered" pattern, lunch & dinner sized pieces, 7 complete place settings, and produced in fine sterling 950. This set is so heavy the dinner forks weigh in at 2.6 ounces each on my postal scale, twice as heavy as some "heavy" popular common patterns. With the added weight is an added sturdiness and content of silver. Not only are these pieces much heavier than normal, they are made from a better quality sterling. This set weighs in at exactly 7lbs and 6.0 ounces on my very accurate postal scale, 4lbs 14.5 ounces without the sterling handled knives. This set includes: 8 Dinner Knives 9 7/8", 2.9oz 8 Lunch Knives 8 1/2", 2.0oz 8 Dinner Forks 7 7/8", 2.6oz 8 Lunch Forks 7 1/8", 2.1oz 8 Salad Forks 6 1/8", 1.3oz 8 Table Spoons 7", 2.0oz 8 Teaspoons 5 1/2", .9oz 1 LARGE Serving Fork 8 7/8", 4.5oz, MASSIVE 1 LARGE Serving Spoon 8 7/8", 3.3oz (nicked bowl)A total of 58 pieces Markings : All pieces are well marked STERLING 950, the salad forks and knives are further marked STERLING SILVER 950. Please view the many photos in considering the value of this set. Condition : This handsome set has weatd the years very well, probably due to the added durability of its thick silver. These pieces are in fine estate condition with no major damages with No bends, No cracks, or repairs. This set has been gently used and has received very little wear. The fork tines are straight without teeth marks; the sterling knife handles are secure. This set has never been monogrammed. Each piece has been inspected and hand-polished; the set is table-ready for every day use or formal entertaining.
