B-11 Description You are viewing a most attractive example of Art Deco Teaware We are offering a fabulous Tea Trio with matching Bread Plate that will delight our collectors Crafted By: A B Jones Grafton China Origin: England Date: circa 1930 Colourway: Cream Pattern: : Laburnum - handcoloured floral decoration in bright, bold colours Displays wonderfully Fully functional Rim: Gilded Gilded handle Measurements Teacup: 2+3/4 inches in height. Saucer: 5+1/2 inches in diameter. Plate: 6 inches across. Bread Plate: 9+3/4 inches across. Condition Report There are no chips. No cracks. No crazing. Detail intact. Background Information: It is fitting that Art Deco and the hit song 'Tea for Two', both made their debut in 1925. From the start, tea ware and Deco style were destined to enjoy a fruitful marriage. The years between the wars are recalled as a true golden age of tea drinking. This was the heyday of Lyons Corner Shops, where an oasis of comfort - red plush seating and chandeliers - was on hand for the price of a cuppa, and where ladies or working girls could meet (or brief encounters be enacted!) in surroundings above reproach.
