This beautiful vase/planter is marked Japan on the bottom and has a mark that I don't recognize. Perhaps some one in eBay land will recognize it and tell me what it means and who made the item. I am assuming it was made mid 20th century but don't know that for a fact. I bought it simply because of the Art Deco look which I love. I'm a fan of almost everything that was Art Deco and have several other deco display items I will be listing. This figure has a distinctly oriental look. I wiped the piece off gently but did not want to soak it. The inside is dirty because I did use it frequently with flowers. I hate giving it up now but have made a resolution to clean out some of the many things I have collected over the years. The vase is 7 inches tall, 3 inches deep and about 4.5 inches at its widest point. NOTE: I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM A VERY KIND INDIVIDUAL WHO TOLD ME THE DESIGN OF THIS PIECE IS SIMILAR TO AN EARLY HAEGER POTTERY DESIGN EXCEPT THAT THE HAEGER PIECE WAS JUST THE BUST WITHOUT A PLANTER FEATURE. THUS, IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A JAPANESE MADE HAEGER KNOCKOFF OF SOME KIND. WHETHER IT IS LEGIT IS MOOT I GUESS. I KNOW THERE WERE SOME PIECES MADE IN JAPAN AFTER WORLD WAR II THAT WERE ALMOST IDENTICAL TO ITEMS MADE IN GERMANY BEFORE THE WAR. I'VE TRIED TO FIND MORE INFORMATION FOR THIS ART DECO PLANTER ON GOOGLE WITH NO LUCK read more
