Up for auction is this spectacular piece of early 20th-Century design...that screams at you from across ANY room. We see no markings, but she's guaranteed to be authentic. We're unsure of her origin...French? American?...any assistance would be appreciated, as always. She appears to be a lamp base...but is missing the shade, one hand (at the wrist), and any/all wiring. The base is steel and the figure, which is bolted to the base with the original hardware, appears to be cast-spelter. Shade would have rested behind her, probably in a fan design, and would have been held intact at the notch on the rear of each hand. Again, one hand is clearly missing but the other is fully complete...so a mold could conceivably be cast and the damaged hand repaired. Regardless...she commands attention just displayed as a piece of incredible sculpture. She stands 13" in height, at her head...and the base is 6" diameter. T are indications she may have originally had a bronze-finish paint...unless that was the color of the casting and/or a primer coat. The silver paint is nicely patinated/distressed...leading us to believe that if it is not original it was done many decades ago. Besides the broken hand she has no other structural damage or repairs...simply a few, very-insignificant dimples on the steel base. Underside of base also has a minor, surface-rusted patina, but no rust rot...which should assure you this is is not some chintzy, overpriced, made-in-China knockoff. You MUST see this piece in person to fully appreciate it.
