These nostalgic examples of Art Deco Bookends are not often seen. "Read to Me" depicts a happy child, perhaps on the veranda of a southern plantation in days gone by. They are extremely well made and in nice condition, with no chips, cracks, or dents. They do have the minor rubs, abrasions & small indents that even with careful handling, would occur, enough to let you know that they aren't reproductions. Nothing that diminishes their displayability. They are listed in Kuritzky** as Circa 1925, made by X-1 and of Gray metal. "X-1" is known for it's exceptional, visually appealing designs and are highly valued by collectors. Their size and weight are impressive---5-1/2"Tall, with a 5-1/4"x 3-1/2" base. Each one weighs 3lbs. 3oz. They have a Polychrome finish that enhances them with subtle variations of gold, silver, metallic gray & slighly bluish hues. They are clearly marked "509" as they should be..I guarantee the age & authenticity of them. Please feel free to ask any questions, I try to promptly answer all. The last image shows items that are currently, or soon will be listed by me. For shipping, they both will be given their own individual, bubble-wrap lined boxes, that will then be placed in a larger, over-packed box. Shipping will usually be USPS Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation. Insurance is optional, but recommended. Personal checks,Money orders & Paypal accepted...International bidders must **Kuritzky & De Costa's highly regarded "Collector's Encyclopedia of Bookends". Thanks for looking.....
