HERE'S A REALLY PRETTY, WELL-MADE BROOCH! The Art Deco style from its origins in France in the 1920s through various revivals and reworkings to the present time, has always been a popular and sophisticated motif. In 1989 a company called ART DECO created gorgeous jewelry, inspired by original pieces made by Cartier and other fine designers. These pieces do come up occasionally in the secondary market and since the company no longer exists, the pieces are often bought by collectors. This sparkling rectangular brooch is silver or rhodium plated metal, 2 1/2" wide x 1 3/8" high, in great condition, with clear diamantes and simulated emerald stones. It's signed ART DECO/89 (the year the company was founded).
